Native Hawaiians, fishermen and members of the public are invited to participate in these workshops on best practices for natural resource management for the mokupuni communities in the Hawaii Archipelago. Breakout sessions include topics on place-based adaptive management, community code of conduct, community consultation process, education, and eligibility criteria. Findings from these meetings (and those held in August on the Big Island) will be considered at a statewide Puwalu in November on Oahu. Get Involved in making fishery decisions. FOOD NETWORK'S "DINERS, DRIVE-INS AND DIVES" GOES HAWAIIAN
On April 5, "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" will air an episode featuring three of Oahu's favorite eateries - Hank's Haute Dogs, Highway Inn, and Nico's at Pier 38. The popular show is hosted by Guy Fieri, known for his trademark bleached spiked hair and laid back California attitude. In its 8th season, "DDD" travels across America visiting classic spots known for their unique take on 'comfort food'.
"This is exciting. It's such a popular show. This is the first time Guy and 'DDD' has come to Hawaii, so we feel even more pumped to be on it," said Nico Chaize, owner of Nico's at Pier 38.
Nico's is located waterfront on Pier 38 just off Nimitz Highway in Honolulu. Immediately next door is the United Fishing Agency, home of the Honolulu Fish Auction, where Nico selects his fish every morning. Opened in 2005, the casual open-air diner quickly established a reputation with the locals for serving fresh fish that has gourmet appeal and wallet-friendly prices.
Also featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives will be Hank's Haute Dogs and Highway Inn.
Award-winning restaurateur Henry Adaniya took his fine-dining knowledge and expertise and put it into a hot dog. Hank's features authentic Chicago hot dogs, local sausage and innovative gourmet creations inspired by regional and traditional flavors. Hank Haute Dogs is located on Coral St in Kaka'ako as well as an express in Waikiki.
Highway Inn opened in 1947 by Seiichi and Sachiko "Nancy" Toguchi. This family-owned and operated restaurant in the heart of Waipahu continues to thrive 63 years later because of its tradition of serving quality Hawaiian and American food has remained unchanged and secure in the hearts and stomachs of locals and visitors. The restaurant recently completed a renovation that included enhancements and expansions to its seafood market and catering facilities.
To commemorate the event, all three restaurants have indicated that on the day of the show a special menu item or promotion will be offered to their customers.
Last week the DLNR
passed a new administrative rule to ban overnight fishing and camping on KapapaIsland.
DLNR painted fishermen as seabird killers in order to collect kayak user fees
from tourists visiting the offshore islands. DLNR is also trying to cast
fishermen out of Kaena Point in order to collect camping fees from tourists.
Because the Land Board does not regulate DLNR, we are losing one fishing spot
after the other quickly and at a statewide level! We must tell the DLNR to stop
restricting overnight fishing and camping whenever they want. We need to shout
out loud to DLNR:
Don’t mess with fishermen anymore!!!
Your presence is
crucial to send a clear message to DLNR that fishermen are tired of being the
scapegoat and will not stand for it anymore.

Hello,
I have recently move to the Marshall Islands from Germany. I am originally from Guam but spent the last 22yrs in Germany. Since my arrival here I have become fascinated with Skin diving and trolling. I have seen all three Volumns of HAD and would like to know if there is anything our there that teaches you the care of the spear guns and how it works or what works good. I recently purchased an H.Dessault spear gun and kinda disappointed in the fact that I can not make it shoot more than three feet from me. Couls it be the way I tie up the line? Is there a video I can purchase/watch that shows the correct way to load the gun and the care of it?
Any tips/tricks is what i am looking for.
I also like to troll. Any suggestions on the type of lures for the different fish? I usually just put on anything.
Let me know,
Chris

We recently made a few changes to the HanapaaFishing.com site. We added an all-new discussion forum so you can talk story with other avid fisherman, divers and hunters. Because of this, we removed the “Groups” feature. One thing we want to mention is that the new forum requires a separate login than the existing Hanapaafishing.com login. It’s easy, just click on “Forums” in the navigation bar and click on “Register” in the top right corner of the forum. We look forward to your feedback. Thank you for your continued support!
I am doing a project for my english class and would like to kind of survey everyone and see how they feel about some of my questions that i will have listed below. My topic is how technology is changing the fishing industy.
1)Do you fell that technology is changing the fishing industry?
2)Has the fishing industry changed within the 25 years?
3)Is the industry changing positively or negatively?
4)What are some factors that are influencing in the change?
5)Should the government be more involved or less involved with the fishing industry?
6)Is the fishing industry becoming too comercialized?
7)Where do you see the fising industry in the next 25 years?
All of your help will be greatly appreciated. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. And any other ideas or things i should know would help me too.
Thank You

After a year of being out of production, Hawaii Goes Fishing is back to doing what it does best: Showcasing a culture and lifestyle that's unique to our islands.
With hosts Cindy, Dave and Margot the show will take you out to experience the fun and adventure of fishing here in Hawaii. And now that we have equipped ourselves with some of the latest and best portable HD-production cameras, it's the next best thing to going fishing yourself!
This 973 pound Pacific Blue Marlin was the second-largest fish ever caught in the 49-year history of the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament. The angler Robert Dudley of California landed it using 50 lb. test line.
The entire 2 hour 20 minute fight, from hook up to landing, was caught on HD video by Dean Sensui of Hawaii Goes Fishing who was the only cameraman on board.
After the exhausting fight, Dean had to put down his camera to help pull the monster fish into the boat!
Although local and national media are asking for footage, you will see it first on Hawaii Goes Fishing on OC16!
It will also be available on-line (no pun intended).
Details and air-date later at www.HawaiiGoesFishing.com
