Last week the DLNR
passed a new administrative rule to ban overnight fishing and camping on KapapaIsland.
DLNR painted fishermen as seabird killers in order to collect kayak user fees
from tourists visiting the offshore islands. DLNR is also trying to cast
fishermen out of Kaena Point in order to collect camping fees from tourists.
Because the Land Board does not regulate DLNR, we are losing one fishing spot
after the other quickly and at a statewide level! We must tell the DLNR to stop
restricting overnight fishing and camping whenever they want. We need to shout
out loud to DLNR:
Don’t mess with fishermen anymore!!!
Your presence is
crucial to send a clear message to DLNR that fishermen are tired of being the
scapegoat and will not stand for it anymore.

Listen
to Carroll Cox and his guests, Jeanie Li (a concerned citizen), Janet Mandrell
from The Makai Society and Huang Chi Kuo discuss rule changes by
the Department of Land and Natural Resources that impact fishermen and boaters.
DLNR can now propose and pass rules, such as restricting fishing access
and introducing park user fees, on its own, without any regulation or
oversight!http://www.carrollcox.com/show122009.htm
