Question: which do you prefer? Aluminum or carbon arrows? also do you use light or heavy arrows? I prefer a slow heavy arrow, it makes my bow quieter and it hits hard due to the weight (abt 500gr) btw, i use aluminum arrows with feather fletches (2413s w/5" shield cut feathers) What do you guys use? mahalo!

I use Beman venture 500 shafts or I use Easton epic 500 shafts. I prefer light because it takes the guess work out of the yardage. Shot placement is key. With the correct shot placement all you need to do is penetrate 5-8 inches. Thats just my opinion.

I prefer cabons but also use alum. I shoot blackhawks at 393gr @295fps. Like podagee said a lot of guess work taken out of yardage. The long shots are easier. It is a recent proven fact thatfaster arrows are deeper penetrating. Yes I know everyone has something to say about it. But,a heavier arrow has the tendency to break bone more effiently because of its inertia. It is also a proven fact that a 2 blade broadhead is not always the deepest penetrating one either. I use 2613 aluminum arrows that are considerably light. When they hit they rarely go all the way through but the animal absorbs 100% of the impact because the arrows are so fat they have a lot of restriction when they go in. As everyone has their own opinion there are alwy factors to consider.A pass through shot offers you two holes for blood to come out, this is good. However sometimes as the animal runs the skin can cover the holes stopping the bleeding thereby losing the trail. A shot with the arrow sticking out allows a wound channel to stay open as well as damage to keep taking place while the animall keeps running. So there is a number of things to consider.I recently shot a boar with my old school bow and got only 6in of penetration. There was an unmistakeable blood trail but there he lay 80 yds away. What it all boils down to is SHOT PLACEMENT. If you got a loud but fast bow you stand a chance of getting a missed or bad shot. If you got a slow but quite bow but it hits the mark how can you go wrong. Personal preference makes up for whatever you choose too. Just remember where you hit it is more important then how you hit it.

I agree with steve0. Where you hit your game is what matters. I shoot both type of arrows out of my stickbow. But prefer carbon out of my speedbow. Just my 2cents
